slowness as a consequence of not getting around to it
Forms could be delayed, material lost, complaints lodged as to dilatoriness in the matter of meeting schedules, and so on, ad infinitum.
Dreiser, Theodore
"Elude" has the suggestion of cunning, deceit or resourcefulness about it. "He eluded capture by hiding in the woods", where the meaning is nearly the same as "avoid", but with the extra edge of the implication of how the avoidance was carried out. "your name eludes me but I remember your face"; here the better synonym would be "escapes" rather than "avoids". The difference comes from the element of trickery being absent here, as it is people who practice cunning, not names!
(Islam) an invisible spirit mentioned in the Koran and believed by Muslims to inhabit the earth and influence mankind by appearing in the form of humans or animals
ILLUDE(v):Literary to trick or deceive
"illude" is used rarely, and to avoid confusion its not to use the word at all! It is hard to imagine a circumstance in which "illude" is a better choice of word than "trick".
"illude" and "elude" are quite close, with implications of something being done that is not open and honest, and this closeness is a good reason for not using word forms that are unnecessary.
