Antonio then beat the air with a barrage of body blows and short devastating lefts with an overhand jaw-breaking right.

First, to maximize your likelihood of winning (whether a game or a contract), forget about winning!

For years, researchers have been trying to tease out the relationship between video game violence and aggressive behavior on the part of people who play such games.

So far, it’s seemed that violence in video games may spur aggression in players, at least in the first few minutes after the game is played.

So separating out the effect of the level of competitiveness could open new channels for both understanding the link between video games and aggressive behavior and also, perhaps, figuring out how to blunt that effect.

Obviously we would like the Ws to outweigh the Ls, but our appetite for victory and our aversion to defeat seem to have sharpened in recent years.

In the poem “If,” his famous litany of what it takes to "be a man, my son,” Rudyard Kipling observes, “If you can meet with triumph and disaster, /And treat those two impostors just the same....”

In most cases, as each one emerged, you could tell right away whether the outcome was a W or an L.
