    His retort — You mean like you? — never left his lips.
  8. bequeath
    leave or give, especially by will after one's death
    “Speaking of caves, I bequeath you mine. I am not returning.”
  9. disheveled
    in disarray; extremely disorderly
    When he and his father had gotten into the land carrier after, Lein had noticed she was standing outside the medic’s office, blond hair disheveled, fingers twisting around one another.
  10. adversary
    someone who offers opposition
    The spotlight on Lein’s face didn’t help him make out who had bid against him — but it gave Nayf a clear view of his adversary.
  11. averse
    strongly opposed
    “I just returned from my first trip to Upper Earth, my first meeting with the Council of Guardians. I’m not averse to overturning the new world order.”
  12. alight
    settle or come to rest
    He resumed climbing, worry alighting in his brain.
  13. fatigues

    She was petite with brown skin, wore a brown leather jacket over green fatigues, and walked with purpose.

    suffer anguish
    She’d agonized and immediately moved to the floor, to her mat, where she slept with Eyas.
  15. sedition
    an illegal action inciting resistance to lawful authority
    As communicated previously, Amir Nayf has been in hiding since he participated in the act of sedition at the Rabaa Gate, which paused the Enlightenment.
