How Are Scores on IQ Tests Calculated?

Many IQ tests are used today. Whether they measure actual intelligence or simply certain abilities is controversial. IQ tests measure a specific functioning ability and may not accurately assess a person's talents or future potential. Results of any intelligence test may be culturally biased. Intelligence quotient (IQ) testing is a series of exams used to determine your general intelligence in relation to other people of the same age.

The IQ test consists of a number of tasks measuring various measures of intelligence including short-term memory, analytical thinking, mathematical ability and spatial recognition. Like all IQ tests it does not attempt to measure the amount of information you have learned but rather your capacity to learn. Once you've provided your answers we compare your results to people of your age and then we provide a normalized score. Normalized scoring can be difficult to understand for those without a background in statistics. It's best to think of your score as a number which represents your IQ compared to others, not as a measure of intelligence. Normalizing means the average IQ score is 100. Our IQ Testing has a lot of extra features that many IQ testing platforms don’t offer.

IQ scores are used for educational placement, assessment of intellectual disability, and evaluating job applicants. Even when students improve their scores on standardized tests, they do not always improve their cognitive abilities, such as memory, attention and speed. In research contexts they have been studied as predictors of job performance, and income. They are also used to study distributions of psychometric intelligence in populations and the correlations between it and other variables. The IQ test put very simply is a measure of human intelligence. There are certain questions that need to be answered in a stipulated time to obtain the score that is then compared to the norms established for that age. The IQ of the person is very important to understand to their general competence.
