In Memoriam 2023: Dianne Feinstein (1933–2023) Tribute List

Dianne Feinstein – American, Democratic, bipartisan, and moderate politician – became the first female mayor of San Francisco (1978–1988), the first California female U.S. senator, the longest-serving U.S. senator from California, and the longest-tenured female U.S. senator in history (1992–2023). The 1978 assassinations of San Francisco Mayor George Moscone and City Supervisor Harvey Milk led to the beginning of Feinstein's national political career as mayor of San Francisco. Her six-decade-long career built a significant record of legislative achievements across a wide range of issues, which include: authoring the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban, mentoring many other female politicians, and helping to improve civil rights, gun control, automobile fuel efficiency, gay rights, national and state parks, AMBER Alert System, drug trafficking, cybersecurity, sex abuse and trafficking, immigration, national security, chemical, pharmaceutical, and food safety, as well as combating wildfires and drought. This tribute highlights Feinstein's illustrious political career through quotes and biographical information.
