    showing sound judgment

    forsaken by owner or inhabitants
    Does the earth have to be deserted just to prove you are right?

    a person who is unusually thin and scrawny
    I’m nothing but skin and bones.

    God has struck me down with his powerful hand.
  7. serpent
    limbless scaly elongate reptile; some are venomous
    But their food will turn sour in their stomachs.
    It will become like the poison of a serpent inside them.
  8. lyre
    a harp used by ancient Greeks for accompaniment
    They sing to the music of tambourines and lyres.
  9. benefit
    something that aids or promotes well-being
    Then Eliphaz the Temanite replied,
    "Can any person be of benefit to God?"
  10. curse
    a severe affliction
    Their share of the land is under God’s curse.
  11. maggot
    fly larva commonly found in decaying organic matter
    So how about human beings? They are like maggots.
    How about mere people? They are like worms.
  12. lapis lazuli
    a deep blue gemstone with tiny gold specks
    Lapis lazuli is taken from the rocky earth.
    Its dust contains nuggets of gold.
  13. priceless
    of incalculable monetary, intellectual, or spiritual worth
    But where can wisdom be found?
    Where does understanding live?
    ...It can’t be bought with priceless onyx or lapis lazuli.
  14. jasper
    a semiprecious gemstone that is often red
    Gold or crystal can’t compare with it.
    It can’t be bought with jewels made of gold.
    Don’t bother to talk about coral and jasper.
    Wisdom is worth far more than rubies.
  15. topaz
    a mineral in crystals of various colors used as a gemstone
    A topaz from Cush can’t compare with it.
    It can’t be bought with the purest gold.
    So where does wisdom come from?
