The 2018-2019 Vocabulary Bowl season starts on October 1st.

Over one million students from tens of thousands of schools across North America will play, compete and learn this season. During the next seven months, these kids will master tens of millions of words. What kind of totals are we predicting on the division leaderboards? Where will we see the most accumulation? And, more importantly, are you ready to put your school on the map?

Like any competition, there are rivalries to watch, records to be broken, and underdogs to cheer on. Watch the Vocab Bowl Season Preview video for our forecast of all the leaderboard action.

Make 2018-19 a "banner" year in the Vocabulary Bowl!

There are over 100 champion's banners up for grabs this year. At the end of the season, we'll award a banner to the school that masters the most words in each U.S. state and territory, and each Canadian province. We'll also award banners to the top ten middle and high schools and the top five schools in Divisions I, II and III. For details, check out the Vocabulary Bowl page.

While the official season runs from October 1st through April 30th, our leaderboards also let you vie for vocabulary supremacy every day, week and month of the year. Monthly champion's banners are awarded to the top school each month all year 'round, so this is an all-the-time, anytime kind of academic competition.
