Yoko Kawashima Watkins

Yoko Kawashima Watkins was born in Japan in 1933. Her family later moved to Nanam in northern Korea and returned to Japan in 1945, near the end of World War II. Her novels So Far From the Bamboo Grove and My Brother, My Sister, and I are based on her childhood experiences.
