  1. diary
    a daily written record of experiences and observations
    A diary is an account of a person's experiences and reactions kept daily or at frequent intervals.
  2. policy
    argument rationalizing the course of action of a government
    A policy statement is an official statement in which a government, a business, or another organization states principles or guidelines to follow.
  3. point of view
    the perspective from which a story is told
    Point of view is the perspective from which a narrator tells a story.
  4. first person
    narration from the point of view of the speaker or narrator

  13. context
    discourse that surrounds and helps explain a word or passage
    Context clues are words and phrases in a text that help you figure out the meaning of an unfamiliar word.
  14. analogy
    drawing a comparison in order to show a similarity
    Analogies show the relationships between pairs of words.
  15. synonym
    a word that expresses the same or similar meaning
    A synonym is a word that has the same meaning as another word.
  16. cognate
    a word deriving from the same root as another word
    Cognates are words that share a common origin but may have different meanings.
  17. essay
    an analytic or interpretive literary composition
