    bring to an end; settle conclusively
    However, they could not agree on how to resolve the problems with Great Britain.
  9. situation
    the general state of things
    Before long, the situation grew worse.
  10. union
    a political unit formed from previously independent groups
    The United States was created as a confederation, or a union, of separate states.
