    Page 153. If you are empowered to do something, it means your allowed to do it.
  15. diminished
    made to seem smaller or less, especially in worth
    Page 175. It can also mean to lessen or reduce.
  16. yearn
    have a desire for something or someone who is not present
    Page 174. The word in the novel is "yearned" and it means to want something really, really badly.
  17. subtle
    difficult to detect or grasp by the mind or analyze
    Page 171. If something is subtle, it is hard to detect.
  18. transgression
    the violation of a law or a duty or moral principle
    Page 165. A transgression is a breaking of the rules.
  19. stealthily
    in a manner marked by quiet and caution and secrecy
    Page 163. It also means sneakily and quietly. If you do something stealthily, you are trying not to get caught (and you probably won't).
  20. condemn
    express strong disapproval of
    Page 165. The word in the novel is "condemned." If you are condemned, it means you are doomed or in major trouble.
