    containing or based on incorrect reasoning
    A tween's assumption that anyone over 20 can't understand her situation would be fallacious; we have all been young once too.
  2. entomology
    the branch of zoology that studies insects
    David Hughes, Penn State assistant professor of entomology and biology, is an expert on ‘zombie’ ants.
  3. doff
    remove
    It is a custom in the U.S. to always doff your cap before the playing of "The Star-Spangled Banner."
  4. artifice
    the use of deception or trickery
    If a politician pretends to be angry as a way of rousing the anger of the voters and getting more votes, he's guilty of artifice — a subtle and crafty trick.
  5. fray
    a noisy fight
    While the students argued in class about whether nature or nurture is to blame for human problems, the teacher stayed out of the fray, letting the students reach their own conclusions.
  6. rotunda
    a large circular room
    When making the plans for your new house, consider adding a rotunda. It will give the house a grand appearance and also allow you to walk in circles as much as you please.
  7. hilarity
    great merriment
    If your teacher passes out cupcakes and lets you play games instead of reading aloud, she may have a hard time controlling the ensuing hilarity in the classroom.
  8. abrasive
    causing irritation or erosion by friction
    What does an obnoxious person have in common with sandpaper? Both are abrasive.
  9. expenditure
    money paid out; an amount spent
    In a trip budget, you need to add up all your expenditures, such as hotel, car rental and food costs against the money you have brought to spend.
  10. tenacity
    persistent determination
    Being a great baseball player requires real gifts, no doubt, but even the most gifted player won't make it to the big leagues without the tenacity required to make the long, hard journey up from the minors.
