  1. belligerent
    characteristic of an enemy or one eager to fight
    If someone is belligerent, they're eager to fight. It's a good idea to avoid hardcore hockey fans after their team loses — they tend to be belligerent. They are bossy, but also hoping that it might provoke something physical. Drunk people are sometimes belligerent.
  2. callous
    make insensitive; deaden feelings or morals
    A callous person is insensitive or emotionally hardened. If you laugh at your little sister while she's trying to show you her poetry, you're being callous.
  3. compulsive
    having obsessive habits or irresistible urges
    Compulsive people have irresistible urges to do certain things, like a compulsive gossip who simply cannot keep a secret. A compulsive gambler has trouble not placing a bet or playing the lottery.

    Conceited people are full of themselves. They believe that they are better than other people.
  5. condescending
    characteristic of those who treat others with arrogance
    If you are being condescending, you are looking down on someone. A 10-year-old who says to his sibling, "What do you know? You're only a 6-year-old!" is being condescending.

    marked by deliberate deceptiveness
    Deceitful people are sneaky, under-handed and evil. They often lie to other people to get what they want.
  7. finicky
    fussy, especially about details
    Finicky people are picky and fussy. You might reject any vegetable that isn't yellow.

    naive and easily deceived or tricked
    Gullible people will believe anything. They are naive. Gullible people are usually not dumb, they just believe that everyone is being honest with them. They are not cynical.

    Impulsive people act before they think.

    lacking regard for the rights or feelings of others
    Inconsiderate people are rude. They do not think of other people's feelings. They will eat the last piece of food without asking anyone.

    If you’re indecisive, you have a hard time making decisions. When you finally do make a decision, you may not be confident about it, or you might change your mind.

    Malicious people are mean--extremely mean. You may also consider them to be evil. Someone who is malicious enjoys hurting or embarrassing others. If you're writing a book about good and evil, you'll want to come up with a truly malicious character to do all the bad stuff.

    marked by a desire for wealth and possessions
    Anyone who is obsessively focused on money, or cares deeply about owning luxury goods can be described as materialistic. Materialistic people are shallow--they care too much about how much things cost and wearing the latest and greatest fashions.
  14. quarrelsome
    given to arguing
    Quarrelsome people enjoy arguing with people. They are looking for arguments and often times start them. When you are quick to pick a fight or disagree, you are quarrelsome. Toddlers are often quarrelsome.
  15. slothful
    disinclined to work or exertion
    A slothful person is lazy. The term comes from the animal, the sloth. You might remember seeing a sloth at the zoo, they sleep 20 hours a day and generally do not move much. When they do move, its movement is very slow.
  16. slovenly
    negligent of neatness especially in dress and person
    Slovenly is a word that is used to describe people who are dirty, messy and uncultured. They have a sloppy appearance.
  17. superficial
    only concerned with what is apparent or obvious
    Superficial people only look at the top surface of things. They care more about what what people are wearing than what kind of person they are. Superficial people derive a lot of pleasure from learning about celebrities. If you're judging a book by its cover, you're being superficial. People who worry too much about their clothes and hair may also be considered superficial

    lacking what is considerate in dealing with others
    Tactless people seem to have no idea about the feelings of others. They make comments that are hurtful because they don't consider how someone else might feel. Interuppting people is tactless.
  19. vain
    having an exaggerated sense of self-importance
    Someone who is vain thinks that the world revolves around them. Vanity also is related to loving how you look. People who are vain are so full of themselves that they think they are the most beautiful people on Earth.
  20. hypocritical
    professing feelings or virtues one does not have
    Hypocrits say one thing but do another. Hypocrits are two-faced. If your uncle tells you that smoking is bad for you, but then you see him smoking--he's a hypocrit. Hypocritical involves acting in a way that goes against your stated beliefs. If you drive drunk despite the fact that you are the president of Students Against Drunk Driving, you are truly hypocritical.
