VocabTrainer™ is Vocabulary.com’s newest activity to combine adaptive learning with gamification to help learners across the world boost their word knowledge. It’s a fun and engaging daily exercise to train students’ brains with a word workout!
VocabTrainer™ provides personalized learning to improve vocabulary. With each question a student answers, VocabTrainer™ measures their vocabulary proficiency and identifies the gaps in their word knowledge. We focus on teaching the words they don’t know for true mastery over memorization.
With the proficiency scores and progress tracking in VocabTrainer™, students can track their vocabulary growth over time.
How VocabTrainer™ works
Learners have answered over 7 billion questions on Vocabulary.com. These insights help us deliver personalized learning to every student.
Understanding how people learn new words helps us ensure that we’re teaching for true mastery, not memorization. Seeing which words people struggle with helps us identify common word gaps for students at each proficiency level. With each question your students answer, VocabTrainer™ evaluates their knowledge on a 20-level scale. It also identifies their trouble words and the gaps in their vocabulary knowledge.
How to play VocabTrainer™
Select VocabTrainer™ from the menu at the top of Vocabulary.com to start playing. Unlimited access to VocabTrainer™ questions and the personalized reporting are included in site and classroom licenses.
If you have taught with Vocabulary.com in the past, you may notice that VocabTrainer™ has replaced The Challenge for personalized, gamified word learning that adapts to the learner’s vocabulary level and unique word gaps. VocabTrainer™ features everything students enjoyed about The Challenge with updated designs and features to make their daily word learning exercises more fun and engaging.
VocabTrainer™ is included in all educator licenses
