Set Your #BOWLGOALS
This season is all about Bowl Goals. What's a #BOWLGOAL? It's an attainable milestone that you set for your school on the Vocabulary Bowl leaderboards to motivate your students to play, compete, and learn. Check out this #BOWLGOAL Guide for tips on how to leverage the leaderboards and build Bowl momentum. Each year, Vocabulary.com also sets a collective Bowl Goal. Last year, students across North America blew away the 40 million words mastered goal with a final total of 41,586,318 words! This year, we're raising the bar and challenging you to achieve the unprecedented milestone of 45 million words mastered.
In addition to the Champions Cup that's awarded to the top high school and the top middle school at the end of the season, we'll also award trophies in Divisions I, II, and III to the top high school and the top middle/elementary school, and to the high school and middle/elementary school runners-up. The winning high school and the winning middle/elementary school will also receive achievement medals for their top one hundred students.
Vocabulary Bowl Top 100
With tens of thousands of schools competing in the Vocabulary Bowl, ranking in the Top 100 at the end of the season is an outstanding accomplishment. In recognition of this effort, we award an official Vocabulary Bowl achievement certificate to the Top 100 high schools and the Top 100 middle/elementary schools at the end of the season.

What makes the Vocabulary Bowl unique is that instead of winnowing the field to a small group of finalists, collaboration is the key to climbing the leaderboards. Every student who plays and learns makes an important contribution to their school's collective achievement, so the more participation there is, the better. The Bowl is about motivating all learners to put in the effort, improve their literacy skills, and experience academic success.
