Other forms: wonton soups
Wonton soup is a dish of savory Chinese dumplings served in a bowl of warm, clear broth. If you eat in a Chinese restaurant, you might try starting with some wonton soup.
You'll find wonton soup on the menu of most Chinese restaurants. It's usually made with chicken broth seasoned with soy sauce, along with boiled or steamed dumplings filled with pork, shrimp, or vegetables. The dumplings, or wontons, are made by rolling out thin squares of dough, wrapping them around fillings, and cooking them right in the soup broth. Wonton comes from the Cantonese wan t'an, "stuffed dumpling."
