reglaze

/riˈɡleɪz/
IPA guide

Other forms: reglazed; reglazing; reglazes

When you reglaze a smooth surface of a sink or bathtub — or a cake — you add a fresh layer of shiny coating. But to reglaze windows, you replace the old glass with new glass.

If a baseball crashes through your bedroom window, you're going to need to reglaze the window. In other words, you'll need to put new glass in the window frame and seal it in. After your room is all cleaned up and free of broken glass, you might be hungry. If you're lucky, your pastry chef brother may be finishing up a fresh batch of homemade doughnuts by reglazing them — that is, adding a second shiny layer.
