When you recheck your math test answers, you're looking them over one more time, just to be sure. It's always a good idea to recheck your work when it really matters that you get it right.

Check it once, and then recheck it to be absolutely certain. Every year, as we head out on vacation, Aunt Fussy gives me a checklist: Check that the stove's off. Check that the faucets aren't dripping. Check that the thermostat is turned down. Check that the doors and windows are locked, etc. Then, when we're finally in the car, she asks me to recheck everything on the list. It's better to be safe than sorry!
