Other forms: nondisclosure agreements
A nondisclosure agreement is a legal contract that keeps certain information private. When doctors promise not to share their patients' confidential health details, that's a nondisclosure agreement.
A nondisclosure agreement, or NDA, is the kind of contract that movie stars require their employees to sign. They might ask that nannies or housekeepers not share details of their personal lives, including where their kids go to school or how many cars they own. Attorney-client privilege is a form of nondisclosure agreement, as is the confidentiality guaranteed by a bank or a priest. Disclosure means "revealing," and an NDA is a promise not to reveal private information.
