When you're fuddled, you're disoriented or confused. If you're fuddled by anesthesia after getting your wisdom teeth out, you probably shouldn't go ice skating.

Anything that leaves you bewildered and dazed makes you fuddled. You can be fuddled by an impossibly hard chemistry test or a concussion during a football game. Most etymologists cite a Low German source for the root, which means "worthless cloth."
