found poem

/faʊnd ˈpoʊəm/
IPA guide

Other forms: found poems

When you rearrange words or phrases from existing texts to compose a verse, that's a found poem. You can write a found poem using magazine articles, graffiti, or sentences on the back of a cereal box!

A found poem is a kind of collage, a piece of writing that's assembled using words you find around you in the world. In fact, some found poetry is a literal collage, made of phrases cut from newspapers or books and rearranged. Other poems are composed using lines from a song, text on a street sign, political speeches, spam email, or even other people's poetry. In fact, any written words you find inspiring can be refashioned into a found poem!
