domestically

Use the adverb domestically to describe things that happen at home or in a home country. You might be very organized at school or work, but a total mess domestically.

Domestically comes from the Latin domesticus, "belonging to the household," and the root domus, "house." The word was first used in the 16th century to mean "inside one's own country" and later came to refer to home life as well. When products are produced domestically, they're made and sold in the same nation, and a Hollywood movie that takes in $10 million domestically earns that amount from tickets sold in the U.S.
