Do something in a foolish or absurd way and you do it daftly. It's so embarrassing when you realize your neighbor overheard you daftly talking to the flowers in your garden.

When you use the adverb daftly, you're describing some action that's absolutely ridiculous. Your wacky aunt may dress daftly, in enormous tall hats and pointy shoes. You may find yourself speaking daftly when it's your turn to ask your favorite author a question, so nervous that the words make no logical sense. Whenever you find yourself acting this silly, you'll know you're behaving daftly.
