Other forms: chroniclers
A chronicler is a recorder of history. You'd better hope there's none of them around when you've just done something embarrassing.
A chronicle is a narrative of events recorded in the order they occur, and the person doing this writing is called a chronicler. Chroniclers were extremely important throughout history to keep records before newspapers, television, and the internet pretty much took over their jobs. The word is derived from Greek and is in the same family as chronology and other words rooted in chron, meaning "time."
