An aquaphobic person has an extreme fear of water. They might find it difficult to take baths or showers, or they might just avoid large bodies of water.
Someone who is aquaphobic suffers from aquaphobia, an irrational fear of H2O. While it's prudent to have a healthy respect for large bodies of water, an aquaphobic person isn't just someone who's careful at the swimming pool. They would likely never even be near a swimming pool! An aquaphobic person's anxiety may be related to a fear of drowning, but it could be about something smaller, like getting water in the eyes. They may have had a bad experience with water in the past, but sometimes the condition develops for unknown reasons.
