Other forms: PACs; PACS

A group that raises money for political campaigns is known as a PAC. Corporations are able to contribute large amounts of money to candidates through PACs.

PAC, pronounced like "pack," is a quicker way to say political action committee. While PACs were initially developed as a way to cut back on the influence of money in politics, they've had the opposite effect. Groups that aren't allowed to donate money directly to campaigns can do it indirectly, through a PAC. Those funds can be used to support candidates or specific ballot measures.
