In the Hindu religion, Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth, love, beauty, and joy. In art, Lakshmi is usually shown with four arms.

Lakshmi is one of the most important figures in Hinduism. She is the romantic partner of Vishnu, who is known as the protector of the universe. Paintings of Lakshmi sometimes depict her massaging Vishnu's feet, though she is often portrayed standing on a giant lotus flower with an elephant or two in the background. The word Lakshmi comes from a Sanskrit root meaning "goddess who leads to one's goal."
