Channukah

Channukah is an eight day Jewish holiday that falls in November or December. In some families, gifts are exchanged each night for the eight nights of Channukah.

Channukah is just one of the alternate spellings of the Jewish holiday that's also known as the Festival of Lights. You can spell it with an H or C, and with double or single n's. Candles are lit each night at sundown and placed in a special candle holder called a Menorah, and many families celebrate by eating foods fried in oil. The word Channukah comes from the Hebrew word חנך or hanukkah, which means "consecration."
