A Buddhist is someone who practices Buddhism, the religion based on teachings of the Buddha. There are many Buddhists living in Thailand.

The Buddha is a religious figure who lived sometime between the sixth and fourth centuries BCE, and a Buddhist is a person whose beliefs and traditions are based on stories about his life. There are many different branches of Buddhism, each with their own typical practices, but most Buddhists use meditation to achieve a calm focus and follow similar ethical rules. The Sanskrit root of Buddhist is Bauddha, which means "follower of the Buddha."
