IPA guide

Act courageously and your bravery will inspire others — and maybe even win you medals. If you dream of being a firefighter one day, you probably imagine yourself courageously saving people from burning buildings.

Someone who's courageous is very brave, even in the face of difficulty or pain. Acting courageously, therefore, means boldly acting on your best impulses, no matter how scary or overwhelming the obstacles might be. This can be a knight courageously fighting off attackers, or a shy Girl Scout courageously ringing a neighbor's doorbell to sell cookies. The Latin root is cor, "heart."
