Today, we are thrilled to announce the release of a feature that many of our educator friends out there have been asking for – grade books!

Now, when you go to one of your class pages, you'll notice a new "Grade Book" tab at the top. Click on it to see your whole class's work on every assignment on one screen.

Across the top of your grade book, you'll see a column for each assignment you've given your class. You'll also see a row for each of the students in your class.

In the grid, you'll see the grade for each student for every assignment. Green numbers were completed on time, and red numbers were completed late. Hover over each number to get more information about how late each student was. If a number is gray, it's because the assignment isn't due yet, so the grade doesn't count towards the student's average.

Below the grade book, you'll see several options for grading your assignments. First, you can choose how you want to grade different assignment types. For example, you can grade Practice Activities based on progress (which we recommend), or on word mastery for that list. Similarly, for Spelling Bees and Quizzes you can choose between "Score" and "Progress" for grading.

Options for grading class assignments

You can also choose how you want to treat assignments that are late for each assignment type. You can either give full credit (100%, the default), or you can give partial credit as a percentage of the student's grade.

You may also choose to weight each assignment type differently. So, if you want Quizzes to count twice as much as Practice, just enter 200 in the "weight" field. Notice that all your grades update when you change the options – neat! Also, we remember which grading options you choose on a class-by-class basis.

Finally, if you want to export the data to your own grade book or spreadsheet, we make it easy to download a CSV file with your class's data. Just click the "Download" button.

We hope our new grade book feature makes it even easier to use Vocabulary.com – after all, it's our mission to make it a snap to integrate systematic vocabulary instruction into what you're already doing in the classroom.

As always, thanks for your support!
