March is a make-or-break month in the Vocabulary Bowl.

It's when students pull together and give it everything they've got to help their schools claim a coveted spot on the leaderboards in the final weeks of the season.

March is when powerhouses look to cement their leads, and scrappy contenders make their last-ditch efforts to unseat arch rivals and claim vocabulary glory. March is when schools get in on the "madness" and raise their vocab game to new heights. Remember what happened in March of '17? That's when Margate Middle School mastered 85,912 words in 31 days — the all-time record for most words mastered in one month.

March 2018 did not disappoint when it comes to word-learning action. Students across North America collectively mastered over 4.5 million words. That brings the running total for this season — which began on October 1st — to over 28 million words, with several weeks to go and more words being mastered every second.

Check out the Roundup Videos for highlights, including the arch rivalry that has Bowl fans glued to the leaderboards.

In High School play, Etiwanda has a virtually insurmountable lead for the division and is poised to prevail once again as overall Champion when the season concludes on April 30th. Mexia High School is crushing it in Division II, but Division III is too close to call as Buckingham Charter HS and East Early College HS duke it out in a rivalry that's one for the ages.

The Middle School leaderboards also saw some fierce competition in March. While Margate is cruising to the finish line as expected division Champs, we're still seeing new schools crack the top ten for the first time, like Brandon Middle School of Virginia Beach and Parkway Middle School from Fort Lauderdale.
