Guide your students to Vocabulary.com activities that contribute to word mastery to earn Vocabulary Bowl points and propel your school to the #1 spot!

The Vocabulary Bowl leaderboards reflect the total words mastered by students during the contest season.

Mastery is earned by answering multiple questions correctly on a given word. Two activities on Vocabulary.com contribute to word mastery, VocabTrainer and Practice. Each word mastered through these activities is equal to a point in the Vocabulary Bowl.

Practice

  • Assign Practice assignments to students so they learn specific words you want them to know, whether for their grade level or a specific classroom text.
  • After students complete a Practice activity, they can click on Finish Mastery to continue answering questions on the words from their Practice list. Students can also find the Finish Mastery option on any list on their My lists page.

VocabTrainer

  • Encourage your students to get in at least 15 minutes per day with their personal word learning coach, VocabTrainer. Students can get their VocabTrainer workout at the beginning of class, during homeroom, when they finish their other work, or as part of their homework.
  • This is not an activity that teachers assign, so students can select VocabTrainer from the top navigation bar at any time.

  • VocabTrainer automatically selects personalized questions while focusing on students’ trouble words and knowledge gaps. Words a student struggled with in Practice activities are automatically added to their VocabTrainer personalized learning plan.
  • Monitor student time in VocabTrainer on your teacher dashboard by clicking on Hours Spent to see total time by class and individual student.
