Congratulations to all the schools that competed in our special Opening Day Vocabulary Bowl Challenge!
On October 1st, tens of thousands of hardworking students buckled down on Vocabulary.com to master as many words as possible in 24 hours and propel their schools to the top of Divisions I, II, and III. It was a colossal collective effort that lit up the leaderboards, with veteran contenders defending their titles and a handful of unknown schools emerging from obscurity to become unexpected threats this season.
Fast and Furious Competition
In terms of the 7-month long Vocab Bowl season, a one-day challenge is a short sprint, and fittingly the competition was fast and furious as everyone burst off the starting blocks with fresh energy. But the Bowl is the ultra-marathon of academic competitions, which takes epic endurance to win. It's way too soon to predict who'll emerge victorious in this race, but here's a look at the one-day champions who charged to the front of the pack on Day One.
