  2. dais

filaments from a web that was spun by a spider
He walked along the terraces above the loud-flowing Bruinen and watched the pale, cool sun rise above the far mountains, and shine down, slanting through the thin silver mist; the dew upon the yellow leaves was glimmering, and the woven nets of gossamer twinkled on every bush.
  8. bulwark

the trait of being rude and impertinent
'"Until you reveal to me where the One may be found. I may find means to persuade you. Or until it is found in your despite, and the Ruler has time to turn to lighter matters: to devise, say, a fitting reward for the hindrance and insolence of Gandalf the Grey.”
  10. tryst

But such a thing has not happened before, that Gandalf broke tryst and did not come when he promised.

For he is very wise, and weighs all things to a nicety in the scales of his malice.
  12. gird
