  1. incorrigible

Principal Skinner: Mr. and Mrs. Simpson, we have transcended incorrigible. I don't think suspension or expulsion will do the trick. I think it behooves us all to consider deportation.
Marge: Deportation?! You mean kick Bart out of the country?!
    Homer: Hear him out, Marge.
    — "The Crepes of Wrath"
  2. behoove

    — " The Crepes of Wrath"
  3. hackneyed
repeated too often; overfamiliar through overuse
Sideshow Bob: [in handcuffs] Yes, I admit it. I hated him! His hackneyed shennanigans robbed me of my dignity for years. I played the buffoon, while he squandered a fortune on his vulgar appetites. That's why I framed Krusty! And I would've gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for these meddling kids!
    — "Krusty Gets Busted"
  4. pitiless
    without mercy or sympathy
Homer: Then I heard the sound that all Arctic explorers dread, the pitiless bark of the sea lion! (gasp) He'll be killed!

Homer: Don't be so.....(turns the page). Oh you're right.
    — "Mr. Lisa Goes to Washington"
  5. contraband

[Maggie takes her pacifier out of her mouth and babbles. The translator goes into action.]

Herb: You see? It tells you exactly what's on the baby's mind.
Lisa: [covering Maggie's eyes] Maggie? Maggie?
Maggie: [via translator] Where did you go?
    Lisa: [uncovering Maggie's eyes] Peek-a-boo!
Maggie: [via translator] Oh, there you are. Very amusing.
    — "Brother Can You Spare Two Dimes?"
  7. poise
great coolness and composure under strain
Edna: I'm sure this is a little scary for you, dear.

    — "Bart's Friend Falls in Love"
Homer has sent away for a subliminal weight-loss program, but was sent an "Expand Your Vocabulary" program instead. "Lamentably" means "unfortunately" and "rapacity" is "extreme overindulgence in food."
  9. glaring
    extremely obvious or conspicuous
Bart: "All right, that's it! I've been scorched by Krusty before. I got a rapid heartbeat from his Krusty brand vitamins, my Krusty Kalculator didn't have a 7 or an 8, and Krusty's autobiography was self-serving with many glaring omissions. But this time, he's gone too far! WE WANT KRUSTY!"
[The other kids join in and chant with Bart.]
Bart and Kids: "WE WANT KRUSTY! WE WANT KRUSTY!"
Barney: "Yeah! We want Crunchy! We want Crunchy!"
    — "Kamp Krusty"

Ms. Krabappel: I believe that with persistent discipline, even the poorest student can end up becoming, oh, say, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
Homer: Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. What great men he would join: John Marshall, Charles Evans Hughes, Warren Berger... Mmmmmmm... Berger...
