We want to express our gratitude to users and reviewers everywhere for their enthusiastic response to yesterday's launch of the Vocabulary.com app for iPad and iPhone. Thanks to everyone's support, the app hit the #1 spot in the App Store's education category and was ranked #13 in apps overall.
We were thrilled by Fast Company's early review, calling the app:
"A positively addictive app for aspiring wordsmiths."
As the day wore on, we were increasingly grateful to see more positive feedback. Some notable mentions include:
AppAdvice named Vocabulary.com for iPhone and iPad "Today's Best App" and followed that up with a rave review.
MacSources gave it a 5-star rating.
- Razorian Fly said the app "is sure to have you learning a whole bunch of words you probably never even knew existed."
School librarian and blogger Shannon Miller of the Van Meter Library Voice shared the lauch news with her followers, anticipating it would "make our 4th and 5th graders happy."
- iPadApps4Schools called it "an excellent vocabulary study service" that provides "instant feedback for every practice question."
- AppOnlineReview displayed enthusiastic user ratings, and 148apps.com hailed the app's "uniquely effective word learning system."
Meanwhile, countless vocabularians on Twitter and Facebook contributed whoops and cheers, calling the app "insanely fun," "sweeet," and "a must-have," declaring themselves "smitten" and "enamored," and downloading and playing the app enough to take it to the top of the iTunes Education rankings.
But perhaps this Fast Company tweet remains our favorite:
A new app to broaden your vocabulary--so you can finally stop crushing candy and ramming cartoon birds into walls. http://t.co/bnf2mrkyGn— FC Leadership (@FastCoLead) March 18, 2014
