-- Darrel Collins, US Park Service, Kitty Hawk National Historical Park

Wright Brothers/Aviation Lesson Plan Ideas:
Objectives: Teach students to appreciate history and do a bit of problem solving.

  • 1. Why were the accomplishments of two pioneers, Orville (1871-1948) and Wilbur Wright (1867-1912), considered to be so courageous? Write a paragraph (or more?) to explain why the items you choose were important to you.
  • 2. What is the significance of persistence and perseverance? How did it affect the Wright Brothers?
  • 3. How has aviation changed life for citizens of the world? List these facts on a white/black board. Have them vote on the three lists they like best!
