A Very Short History: Thanksgiving is really a "harvest festival" celebration. The United States observes it annually on the fourth Thursday in November. The first American Thanksgiving was likely to have taken place in 1620 in Massachusetts. The American Pilgrims had established the Plymouth Colony (after leaving England on a ship called the Mayflower on September 16th) and, with an agreement called the Mayflower Compact on November 11, 1620, set down rules to govern for "the general good of the Colony". The Massachusetts Wampanoag indian tribe became friends with the Pilgrims and were known to have celebrated the harvest festival with them in the early years.

Mythology story surrounding the word CORNUCOPIA: When Zeus was an infant he was nursed by an nymph named Amalthea. She feed him with milk from a goat and honey from the bees. Later, to show his gratitude, he took a goat's horn, filled it with food, fruit and herbs and gave it to Amalthea. The horn would always be full of food whenever the nymph desired. It was truly a "horn of plenty".
