  • Hi! I am Cinny Nym, a faculty member at Vocabulary University®.
    Have you studied the given roots and their meanings? Have you repeated unfamiliar words out loud? Tip: To learn new words, LOOK at them, LISTEN to them and then WRITE them. Have you listened to a "faculty member" read the words in a story at the "view context story" link? (Note: this AUDIO resource is available for all sesssions from #1 through #6. AUDIO will be available in future sets of words as noted.)
    Each puzzle contains a root, a definition and a part of speech for each word. The OBJECTIVE of this activity is to solve the puzzle by typing in appropriate letters in the word blanks.
  • If you have not learned the unfamiliar word(s) well enough and are unable to solve the puzzles, press the submit button. By doing this, you can study again the root, word answers and a contextual sentence. Then go back and try to solve the puzzle by typing in letters. You can solve the puzzle repeatedly until you earn a perfect score!
  • Email your answers to friends, family and classmates. The OUTCOME is your mastery of three roots and at least 12 words!

Directions: Vocabulary.com includes these SUFFIXES as a part of your Root-A-Week program! Suffixes modify and extend meaning. Use 9 suffix puzzles at grade level for each of these 9 "important" suffixes. (The grade level for each word using a suffix is noted.)
