Reconciled means "consistent" or "settled." The reconciled check book shows you have less money than you thought. Just once you'd like it to work out the other way and discover that you had more money than you thought!
The adjective reconciled is from the verb "reconcile," which is from the Latin root words re, meaning "again," and concilare, meaning "to make friendly." You can remember this if you think of a reconciled couple as once again being friendly to each other after a break up. When I saw you and your ex-boyfriend at the ice cream shop together I thought you must have reconciled, until I noticed he was wearing a strawberry sundae on his face.
