meddle

Meddle means to interfere, and sometimes even to touch. You can meddle in someone else's affairs, and you can meddle with someone else's things.

Do not confuse meddle with medal, which is a metal disk won as part of a contest or awarded for some noteworthy accomplishment. Also don't confuse it with muddle, which means to disorder. If you meddle in your sister's jewelry box, you'll end up with a muddle of tangled necklaces, disordered earrings, and a couple of figure-skating medals.
