Please read the paragraph-story below to help you study and learn new words. In the Session #140 activities following the story, the exercises will help you determine and understand the meaning of the twelve new words. The 12 story words are listed alphabetically below.

  • STORY WORDS: Acquaintance, Artificial, Complication, Deficiency, Duplicate, Employment, Faculty, Ignorant, Magnificent, Misapplied, Recognize, Unnoticed

    Story #1:

An ACQUAINTANCE of the principal says that due to Johnson Middle School's fine reputation, the FACULTY there certainly RECOGNIZE the MAGNIFICENT opportunities to teach. Its successes have not gone UNNOTICED. No vacancies exist for EMPLOYMENT. Another school, Avery Junior High, is not IGNORANT of the DEFICIENCY of its own academics. Innovative techniques have been MISAPPLIED. Concrete, not ARTIFICIAL solutions are needed. As a result, the principal there faces a COMPLICATION of problems. Avery will now try to DUPLICATE the success of Johnson Middle School.

Story #2 (from the interactive puzzle page of S#140, Level One):

In John's EMPLOYMENT, he met an ACQUAINTANCE with an ARTIFICIAL knee. During the MAGNIFICENT surgery, a doctor on the FACULTY at the university did not encounter a single COMPLICATION, although neither patient nor physician was IGNORANT of the risks. Fortunately, the doctor did not MISAPPLY new technology and there was not a DEFICIENCY of capable nurses. The successful operation did not go UNNOTICED enabling doctor to perform a DUPLICATE surgery where other faculty did RECOGNIZE the skillful job.

Don't forget, there is another story using these 12 words at the top of the Level One interactive puzzle page.
