Please read the paragraph-story below to help you study and learn new words. In the Session #139 activities following the story, the exercises will help you determine and understand the meaning of the twelve new words. The 12 story words are listed alphabetically below.
  • Abstract, Cognate, Distraction, Inconsequential, Naive, Nationality, Persecute, Portrayal, Protracted, Secondary, Sequel, Supernatural

    Story #1:

Marie-Louise, an artist of Canadian NATIONALITY, was NAÏVE in her attempts to create a PORTRAYAL of SUPERNATURAL circumstances. Not wanting any DISTRACTION from her ANSTRACT creations, she located a small, INCONSEQUENTIAL studio where she could have PROTRACTED hours alone without anyone attempting to PERSECUTE her for her ideas. The SEQUEL to her attempts include a SECONDARY effort to study COGNATES from French and include foreign words on her unique paintings.

Story #2 (from the interactive puzzle page of S#139, Level Two):

Sophia, a woman of Greek NATIONALITY, wanted a DISTRACTION and decided to study the SUPERNATURAL. Familiar with COGNATES, she examined languages that gave a PORTRAYAL of creatures and unexplained events. Perhaps she was NAÏVE but she even pursued INCONSEQUENTIAL details and information of a SECONDARY nature. She became so involved that she indicated a need to PROTRACT her analysis. The final SEQUEL to her interest ended with unkind associates who were annoyed with her obsession of ABSTRACT circumstances. They began to PERSECUTE her for her fantasies.
