Vocabulary University® - Session 138-Level One Contextual Story

All the words in Level #1 come from the root/cells: JUR-JUS, CERN-CER-CRE and LEG.
Do you know what each one means?
Cinny Nym
Cinny Nym gives you the answers:

  • JUR-JUS: law, right, swear
  • CERN-CER-CRE: separate, distinguish, sure
  • LEG: law
Please read the paragraph-story below to help you study and learn new words. In the Session #138 activities following the story, the exercises will help you determine and understand the meaning of the twelve new words. The 12 story words are listed alphabetically below.
  • ADJUSTMENT, CERTIFICATE, COLLEGIATE, CONCERN, CONCERTO, ILLEGAL, INJURY, JUROR, JUSTIFY, LEGISLATURE, PRIVILEGE, SECRECY

A foolish COLLEGIATE individual forgot to make an ADJUSTMENT in his beverage intake. As a result, he had a car accident where a member of the LEGISLATURE who had attended a CONCERTO sustained a serious INJURY. Now, fearfully, he shows CONCERN that he will face an unforgiving JUROR. Will the hearing take place in SECRECY? Fortunately for him, disclosure could be ILLEGAL. Nothing can JUSTIFY drinking when someone has the PRIVILEGE of a driveršs CERTIFICATE.
