"Hi, I'm Sam Mantics, Dean of Admissions & Directions at Vocabulary University®. Explore our Level 2 educational activities: Level 2 Fill-in-the-Blanks, Definition Matching, Synonym & Antonym Encounter, Contextual Story, Level 2 Word Find, Level 2 Crosswordand True or False?

In this session we will study these roots/cells: DICT/DIC/DIT, VEN/VENT and DUCT/DUC. Do you know what each one means? The following story will help clarify their meanings.

After the fall of the DICTATORSHIP, the populace welcomed home the duke and DUCHESS in an EVENTFUL series of celebrations. The citizens wanted a PRODUCTIVE rule. They could DEDUCE that with a CONVENTIONAL reign, their rulers would DEDICATE themselves to the PREVENTION of atrocities. The AQUEDUCT could be rebuilt and VENTURESOME individuals would have the freedom to create new solutions to old problems. There was no CONTRADICTORY evidence to suggest that these occurrences wouldn't happen. In fact, a sage had made a PREDICTION that the couple would rule successfully.
Make time to learn the roots! Then, after you have memorized each one, complete the three puzzles below. If you can not solve all or just solve part, hit the submit button twice at the bottom of the page to get the correct answers. You can also go to a link on suggestions for using Vocabulary.com
