Objectives: Teach students to appreciate sports history and do a bit of problem solving.

  • 1. Explain how a team sport teaches sportsmanship. Choose words that help define this quality. Use the words in sentences to demonstrate understanding.
  • 2. Is competition healthy? Why/why not? What does a person learn about it in school, in sport activities and at home?
  • 3. What role does a coach play in a football player's life? How big is it? Why? Compare high school football players to professional football players/athletes. Why would a player want to play in college or at a university? Do professional players deserve their high salaries? How do these financial rewards affect fans? What are the effects of superstars?
  • Feel free to make a copy for use at home or in the classroom!
