MyVocabulary.com - 39 Week Vocabulary Lesson Plan for School Year

Sam Mantics
"Hi, I'm Sam Mantics, Dean of Admissions & Directions at Vocabulary University®. The faculty is pleased to present these free Latin and Greek interactive root puzzles. Our Week 2 emphasis will study these roots/cells: DICT and CRED. Do you know what each one means? The following story will help clarify their meanings.

STORY: INCREDULOUS that heretofore no one had been courageous enough to force the ruler to ABDICATE, the citizens made a PREDICTION that the EDICT would affect the JURISDICTION of the DICTATORSHIP. They resented the DICTATORIAL tone of the MISCREANT in power. Citizens no longer had CREDENCE in either the CREDENTIALS or the CREDIBILITY of their ruler. They had already made enormous strides to DISCREDIT and initiate an INDICTMENT against the dictator. They would DEDICATE themselves to expose his INCREDIBLE injustices and INDICATE examples of his cruelties. To their CREDIT, the townspeople often chanted a short CREDO that reinforced the CREED they had espoused.

Make time to learn the roots! Then, after you have memorized each one, complete the four puzzles below.
Type in and submit the 18 answers (in four puzzles) to the Rooty*Hoot*Hoot® brand puzzles in the boxes INSIDE THE PUZZLE. When you hit the "Submit" button at the bottom of this page, you will get immediate feedback with both the correct answers and the use of the words in context. There are word banks below each puzzle to assist you in your personal vocabulary acquisition. If you can not solve all or you just solve part, hit the submit button twice at the bottom of the page to get the correct answers.
