Johannes Gutenberg of Mianz, Germany invented the metal "type" mold, a precision instrument that allowed alphabetical metal letters to be locked together to print multiple pages. After printing, the metal letters could be unlocked, changed and put together again to print a new page. This invention, in the 1450's, allowed communication of thoughts, the creation of printed books and, consequently, literacy to spread rapidly throughout the world.

"Hi, I'm Dick Shinary, Chancellor of Literacy at Vocabulary University."

I have grouped words (all related to writing, language and literary tools or skills) in 3 different categories. I'm sure you've heard of most of them but, those that you don't know, look them up in the Random House Webster's College Dictionary.

Puzzle #3 - Directions
In 1942, under the code name, The Manhattan Project, work began to create an atom bomb. On August 6th and 9th, 1945, two of them were dropped by US B-29 bombers on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, an event that quickly ended World War II. The bombs demolished virtually every building that was 1/2 a mile from the point of detonation. Their power looks "primitive" today in comparison to the nuclear weapons of many nations.
